Co-opted Variety Show & Fundraiser

El Cid, 4212 West Sunset Blvd, Los Angeles, CA

I'm doing stand-up on this event for some very worthy causes...

Inspired by Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller Rogen's Hilarity for Charity, filmmaker Zoë Smurr is throwing a variety show featuring musician Julian Borrego, Lady Bits Improv Troupe, and few stand-up friends for a night of comedy, music and fun to raise awareness about Alzheimer's with the millennial crowd!

This event is also a launch party for the Seed&Spark crowdfunding campaign of Zoë's upcoming semi-autobiographical web series Co-opted, about a straitlaced college transfer who comes of age in the wild chaos of a legendary student commune after her father's crushing Alzheimer’s diagnosis.

20% of the proceeds of this event will be donated to Hilarity for Charity, through which monies raised are directed to help families struggling with Alzheimer’s care, increase support groups nationwide, and fund cutting edge research.

The rest will go towards the making of the pilot episode of Co-opted, a web series supported by Film Independent that's aimed at getting #millennials engaged in a conversation about young adult caregiving and #Alzheimers with irreverence and humor.

Zoë dedicates these efforts to her father, John Smurr, who was diagnosed with Alzheimer's Disease in 2007. To donate directly to Hilarity for Charity, click here. For more info about Co-opted: www.zoesmurr.com/coopted
